DeliveryBill's last flight in N3237F was to Gillespie Field. He flew it from Fullerton with a friend and their wives drove down to meet them. As the scheduled time drew near we turned on our handheld radio and waited to hear Bill's initial call to Gillespie tower. When we heard "Gillespie Tower, Mooney three two three seven foxtrot five miles east" our hearts began to pound. After a second call at three miles we saw them and the tower cleared them to land. After landing Bill taxied over to the parking area where we were waiting. Bill hopped out and handed us the keys. ![]() Bill taxied to transient parking near the Administration building. ![]() Bill and his entourage departed and we were alone with our new airplane. ![]() What have we done??!!. ![]() We taxied to our tie down and celebrated airplane ownership with a champagne toast. |
